MormonTeacher.com is intended as a simple way to help LDS teachers more effectively reach the people they are teaching. We hope you will find this service useful, and if you have any questions that are not answered below or on our tutorials page, feel free to contact us!

How much does a membership cost?A membership costs $7.50 per month, which gives you full access to your selected auxiliary's membership page, and upcoming lessons are available at least two weeks in advance. That works out to less than $2.00 per lesson! Payment must be handled over PayPal, since the processing requires a recurring subscription. If you cannot use PayPal for any reason, contact us to arrange for an alternate form of pre-payment.
There is also an option to purchase current and previous lessons à la carte from our lesson store for $2.99 per lesson. Download a free sample lesson and see if you think your class might benefit. -
What software is required? To view, edit and display the presentations on Mormon Teacher, you will need either Keynote for Mac, PowerPoint for PC or Mac, or Keynote for iPad.
The presentations are initially created on an Mac using the award-winning Keynote presentation software found in Apple's iWork suite of applications. But you don't need Keynote to use these presentations – each lesson also has a Microsoft PowerPoint version available for use on PCs or Macs with Microsoft Office installed. Each presentation is also optimized for Apple's iPad, in case you want to use that device to help you teach your lesson.
To present your lesson you may simply use your laptop, desktop computer or iPad, or connect one of these devices to a monitor, television set, or projector. Whatever you think will work best for your class and in your classroom! -
Why do lessons follow the manual so strictly?Elder M. Russell Ballard said, “Teachers would be well advised to study carefully the scriptures and their manuals before reaching out for supplemental materials. Far too many teachers seem to stray from the approved curriculum materials without fully reviewing them. If teachers feel a need to use some good supplemental resources beyond the scriptures and manuals in presenting a lesson, they should first consider the use of the Church magazines.” (Teaching - No Greater Call General Conference, April 1983)
More recently, Dallin H. Oaks has declared that, "a superior teacher of the gospel will teach from the prescribed course material." (Gospel Teaching General Conference, October 1999)
In light of this counsel, MormonTeacher.com's presentations adhere to the lessons as they are presented in the official Church-approved teacher's manuals, and all supplemental and support material comes from Church-approved sources. (Occasionally, an additional slide or two may be added to support a principle being taught using material that is not specifically identified in the lesson; these slides may be easily removed from the lesson if you choose.) -
What is your design philosophy in putting these presentations together? The presentation should never be distracting or obtrusive. The look should be clean and uncluttered, and the material on the slide should support the teacher, not teach the lesson. This means simple builds and transitions, with a bare minimum of bullet points or other text. Text is typically used only when the lesson suggests writing a list on the chalkboard, or for scriptures. There are more photos, illustrations, or videos that complement the section of the lesson that is being taught. In fact, the text of the lesson itself can be inserted into the Presenter's Notes area of the presentation file, to allow for maximum efficiency. Remember, too, that once the file is in your hands, you are free to customize it as you see fit for your class by adding or removing slides, and otherwise following the promptings of the Spirit that one enjoys when they are called and set apart to teach.

How do I...?MormonTeacher.com was designed to be as simple as possible. A little knowledge of Keynote or PowerPoint helps, but usually isn't necessary. There are tutorial videos available that will demonstrate the basics of MormonTeacher.com, from navigating the site and downloading a presentation, to customizing the presentation and adding a video. If you have a question that isn't answered here or on the Tutorials page, send us an email!

Why aren't there lesson presentations available for Primary, Young Men's, Priesthood, or Relief Society? If there is enough demand to make presentations available for these other areas, they will be considered for future expansion of this website. Send us an email to let us know which class you'd like to see covered.

Do you offer the lesson presentations in Spanish? Not at the moment, unfortunately, but if there is sufficient interest, I would certainly make that an option in the future. In the meantime, converting the English lessons to Spanish shouldn't be very difficult. The presentations consist almost entirely of language-neutral images or Church-produced video (which is available in Spanish). All the text on the slides or in the presenter notes is taken either directly from the manual or from the scriptures.
By downloading an English presentation and then visiting http://lds.org/?lang=spa you may be able to complete the language conversion yourself in about ten minutes using copy and paste. -
What about copyright? The photos, videos, text, and other materials used in the preparation of these lessons is either in the public domain, or consist of lawfully acquired stock media files, or are Church owned. All materials are freely available online; MormonTeacher.com is simply a service that organizes all these elements into one package. (Due to the license restrictions on the stock photos and other media MormonTeacher.com has paid for, users are not permitted to re-use or redistribute any of the photos found within the presentation.)
