MormonTeacher.com Tutorials

How do I...?

MormonTeacher.com was designed to be as simple as possible. A little knowledge of Keynote or PowerPoint helps, but usually isn't necessary. From navigating the site and downloading a presentation, to customizing the presentation and adding a video (see bottom of page for PowerPoint instructions), these tutorials will demonstrate the basics of MormonTeacher.com. If you have a question that isn't answered here or on the More Info page, send us an email!

Adding video using PowerPoint

This is a bit tricker than it is on a Mac, but the following instructions should make things easier:

Finding the video file using iTunes:
If you have downloaded the Mormon Messages video that you want from the iTunes Podcast directory, you just need to find out where the file is stored on your computer. Apple has a knowledge base article describing the necessary steps, but basically all you need to do is select the relevant video file in the Podcast section of your iTunes library, choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu, and then click the "Summary" tab. There is a section labeled "Where" that tells you the location of the video file.

Inserting the video into your PowerPoint Presentation
Microsoft has an in-depth article on this subject, but the easiest way to insert a video is to go to the "Insert" menu, select "Movies and Sounds" and then "Movie from File". In the dialog box that appears, navigate to the location where you downloaded the video, (e.g. the "where" coordinates you found in the previous step using iTunes.) Check out this article from Presentation Magazine for more details and a screenshot of the appropriate insert menu.
